Building our First Building

Our first building on the corner of Highland Avenue at Lanier Place consisted of one large room

upstairs that was used for a church auditorium, seating 225–250 people in opera seats.

Classrooms were downstairs. The building was intended to be the Education building for a

permanent church on this site.

“Perhaps our greatest need at the present is a suitable Church plant large enough to

accommodate our congregation. Every Sunday a large portion of our congregation must be

seated in extra chairs. We now have 1,189 members. Our architect has finished plans, working

drawings, and specifications for our new building.”
